All in 4 portland

Bold coalition Building

We have to build an intersectional and diverse coalition of Portlanders if we have any hope of creating policies to ensure ALL of us have access to clean drinking water, healthy food to eat, adequate housing, and the healthcare we need. There are forces in our city that would stand in the way of all of us having even the most basic human rights. They gain their power from sowing division among us and that cannot continue. As a Portland City Councilor for District 4 I will always be willing to have difficult conversations with people who don't look or think like me and never let public discourse collapse. Above all, I will strive to foster class solidarity as we push for revolutionary change in the way our society is organized.

Endorsements

Voters of Tomorrow is a Gen-Z Led Movement that engages, educates, and represents young Americans in politics. Gen-Z is currently the largest generation on Earth and we are ready and able to take on the challenges of governance. We are not a fan of regressive policies and will turn out in full force this November to ensure we are moving towards a happier, healthier, and safer future for all.

Pledges

The below pledges are applicable to not only my campaign for District 4 Portland City Council, but any future political campaigns I run.

I am not for sale and neither is the health of our communities.

I commit that if elected I will prioritize, introduce budget amendments, and vote in favor of full funding for expanded 24/7 citywide Portland Street Response coverage in every budget cycle. Furthermore, I commit that if elected, within 60 days of taking office, I will work with Friends of Portland Street Response to introduce, vote for, and help pass an ordinance to save Portland Street Response

I pledge not to take contributions from police unions or associations, not to seek their endorsement, and to publicly reject their independent expenditures. I will instead prioritize the wellbeing and safety of every member of our community. We can create a safer Portland without expanding our police force.

This is a logo of the No Fossil Fuels Money pledge on the website of Jeremy Smith who is running for Portland city council in district 4.

I pledge to not take contributions from oil, gas, and coal industry executives, lobbyists, or PACs and instead prioritize the health of our families, climate, and democracy over fossil fuel profits. Zenith, Chevron, and other Fossil Fuel Corporations are not good neighbors to us. They pollute our air, water, and pose a massive threat to our lives when we inevitably have a large seismic event. I am not for sale and neither is the health of Portlanders.

I pledge to put patients over profits and not take contributions from the executives, lobbyists, and PACs affiliated with the corporate health care industry, including private insurers, pharma corporations, and private hospitals who are organizing to take over our health care system. Oregon is moving towards a Single Payer Healthcare System, but this will take years to implement. We need to ensure no Portlander is pushed into medical debt before our Single Payer Healthcare System is solidified.

Community Partners

Portlanders deserve a direct voice in decisions that impact them. It's time for Portland to join the hundreds of other cities across the U.S. in adopting a community-led budgeting process, where residents can decide how to spend a portion of the city’s budget, bring transparency to city spending, and hold lawmakers accountable.
